Message from the President

Leroy

Welcome to the website of ISPOG!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the ISPOG website. I assumed the mantle of leadership at the end of a successful ISPOG Congress held in The Hague in October 2019. I stand on the shoulders of giants who have travelled this path before me, and pledge to uphold their legacy.

During the tenure of the current board of Officers, we shall strive to maintain clarity of vision in respect of ISPOG and the advancement of the biopsychosocial model of health care delivery. In other words, we must have 20/20 vision for ISPOG!

In the next three years ISPOG activities will be focused mainly in the domains of advocacy, education and research. May I recommend that member societies should key into these areas of activity and keep other member societies abreast of developments in this area through the medium of this website, the ISPOG newsletter, and the websites of member societies.

The world is progressing at a fast pace, new concepts taking a relatively shorter time to gain a foothold. This is partly due to the digital revolution. We must take advantage of this to disseminate our core message on the importance of integrating biological, social and psychological factors in the planning, delivery and monitoring of healthcare. And this integration should be emphasised in the basic and continuing education of health professionals.

May I encourage members, individually and as a group, to continue to champion this cause with fervour.

Leroy Edozien
President of ISPOG
